Tanzania Equity Markets | 3 Sep 2015 : Bull appears on DSE and compensate investors with US$24 million
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Capital Markets in Africa — At the last the bullish momentum resurfaced on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange equity trading floor. The equity market capitalization gathered about TZS 53 billion (about US$24 million) to end at TZS 21,611 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 21,558 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Still in the bullish mood, the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) surged by 5.26 points or 0.21 percent to end at 2,467.46 points. Tanzanian domestic Share Index jumped by 9.96 points or 0.22 percent to close at 4,630.85 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index plunged by 0.04 percent or 1.31 points to settle at 2,964.48 points. Industrial & Allied sector index increased by 0.21 percent to end at 6,280.33 points but Commercial services sector index grew by 2.13 percent to end at 4,016.04.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 52.36 mln from 61,126 shares traded in 46 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 1,724.50 mln from 154,471 shares traded in 79 deals. CRDB had 51,612 shares traded in 19 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 1,430 shares in 7 deals. Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 52 shares in 3 deals. Tanzania Portland Cement Company Limited recorded 6,200 shares traded in 9 deals. Tanzania Cigarette Company Limited traded 40 shares in 1 deals. Swissport Tanzania had 200 shares in 2 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended negative today, with five gainers and four losers. Uchumi Supermarket Limited emerged as the top gainers after adding 11.76 percent with a closing price of TZS 190 and Swissport Tanzania Limited improved by 2.74 percent to settle at TZS 7,500. KCB Group ended at TZS 910.00 after gained 2.25 percent and Acacia Mining Limited increased by 1.06 percent to trade at TZS 7,560.00. Tanzania Breweries Limited recorded TZS 15,150 by adding 0.33 percent.
On the other hand, Jubilee Holdings Limited plunged by 3.97 percent at TZS 10,630, DCB Commercial Bank plummeted by 2.44 percent to trade at TZS 600.00, National Media Group sagged by 1.48 percent to end at TZS 3,330 and East Africa Breweries Limited closed at TZS 5,620.00 after a reduction of 0.71 percent.
